As you can see from the New Orleans Road Closure map, all roads into New Orleans have now been closed as a State of Emergency is declared in New Orleans in preparation for Hurricane Gustav to hit the region. The federal government, not wanting a repeat of the deaths caused by Katrina 3 years ago, have issued a mandatory evacuation Notice for New Orleans. That means EVERYONE OUT. Over 1 Million people have left New Orleans within 24 hours of the forced evacutation. National guard troops are now on scene with many more to come. The government is definately not taking any chances with hurricane Gustav.

Below is a Traffic map showing all the road closures as well as a description of the various road closures in New Orleans. Also, there are a couple of pictures from traffic camera's showing the extent of the evacuation.

Interstate 10 westbound: at Exit 267 - Interstate 12

Comment: All Westbound traffic will be directed to travel Northbound on I-59.

Interstate 10 eastbound: at Exit 267 - Interstate 12
exit ramp closed
Comment: Traffic that would normally continue Eastbound on I-10 or exit onto I-12 Westbound will be directed to continue Northbound on I-59.

Comment: All Northbound traffic on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway will be diverted onto I-12 Westbound and then Northbound on I-55.

Interstate 10 westbound: from Exit 210 - Interstate 55 to Exit 226 - State Highway 3152
opposing lanes reversed for evacuation
Comment: I-10 Eastbound lanes will be reversed to travel Westbound at the Clearview exit. The lanes normally travelling Eastbound will be directed to continue onto I-10W at the LaPlace crossover. The normal Westbound lanes will be directed to travel Northbound on I-55.
